Inventor 2008 new favorite feature #3 and #4
February 23, 2007 01:24 PMby Kevin SchneiderWhen working with part and assemblies, I frequently want to do an interference check, view the COG or look at the rolled up mass properties. If you are not diligent in keeping mass properties up to date, then you have to pay the price of going out and computing them. If you are working in a large assembly this might mean loading more data then can fit in memory!
In Inventor 2008 you can now have mass properties updated on save. Now every part updates its own mass props as I create and modify them. Since all the part's mass props are up to date the assembly does not need to go compute anything. Fast and easy.
This also has the side effect that parts have mass properties already computed so that I can also use the new ability to put part mass props on the title block (that's favorite feature #4).

Now I have a chance to let loose and tell you about all the cool things coming in Inventor 2008, and across all the Manufacturing solutions.
Let's start with the official press release today, and then every few days i'll give you details on one of my more favorite features.
