In the Machine

  • In The Machine is the official blog of the Inventor Product Management Team. It is a way for us to share Inventor news, interesting information about successful Inventor customers and partners as well as tips and tricks. From time to time we’ll also use the blog to solicit feedback from users via surveys. This blog is hosted by Garin Gardiner our Technical Marketing Manager.

  • Japanese Blog

Our Japan team just created a blog in Japanese that leverages some of our content and adds their own local content. It's very cool - just wish I could read it. :-)

I even think they've issued a challenge to our other locations.... could be interesting!

  • Autodesk Goes Shopping
    October 19, 2005 11:44 AMby

Today we announced "our intentions" (sounds like lawyer speak to me) to purchase Engineering Intent.  They are based in Waltham Massachusetts and provide Engineer to Order software and services to manufacturing companies. The classic example I've seen is a playground - imagine going to a school board meeting and being able to configure a playground on the fly with all the right rules baked in. And when you are done a quote comes out. For people with highly configurable products its really a time savings.  We already have some joint customers doing the same thing with staircases and conveyor systems.  Check out the press release.

And in old news.... While I was in Sweden 2 weeks ago, we announced another pending acquisition - this one with Alias - a Canadian based company. For MSD this means we'll have access to some really awesome industrial design and automotive styling tools. You can check out these products here and read all the details on a joint Alias/Autodesk website.

Both these acquisitions will take a little while to close, so for now it's business as usual.. but it is fun to dream about the possibilities!

  • AU Registration Still Open
    October 13, 2005 10:06 PMby

It's not too late to register for Autodesk University!  This year we have lots of classes and sessions specifically for Inventor users, so register now before all the good classes and hotels fill up.

If you've attended AU in the past, you know about the many benefits of AU, but if you need some ideas for justifying a trip to sunny Orlando, Lynn Allen has some ideas how to convince your management.

Visit the AU website to register online, and enter priority code AU05EB and authorization code MSD to save $400 off the registration fee.

    See you at AU!

    -Sam

PS - For your shot at a free trip to AU, it's not too late to submit your entry for the Inventor Innovation Awards.  Visit the contest website and submit your entry by October 21!
