  • Two New Reviews on Inventor
    August 11, 2005 10:54 AMby

Inventor 10 has been out for a few months now and 2 new write ups have recently been posted.

Jeff Rowe (who also covered AutoCAD M) gave reports that "Autodesk Inventor has ascended the mechanical design ladder to hold its own with the competition." and gives it an overall rating of A-. Read his review here.

And from overseas, Al Deal posted his first of 2 articles on Inventor to MCAD online in the UK. This is an extremely thorough and lengthy review and it's only part 1! Read Al's review here.

    Good reading.  Amy

  • The Virtues of AutoCAD Mechanical
    August 10, 2005 09:30 AMby

In a recent Cadalyst review, Jeff Rowe writes about the virtues of AutoCAD Mechanical for 2D mechanical design tasks....  Jeff writes " AutoCAD Mechanical is a specialized 2D application that sits on top of and is tightly integrated with AutoCAD. Look at the interface and you can tell immediately that they're obviously related, but also different, because Mechanical has toolbars and palettes specifically for mechanical design, such as standard parts libraries, mechanical line objects and simple FEA (finite-element analysis) calculations for 2D objects...." • MDT to Inventor Migration
    August 4, 2005 10:46 AMby

This white paper is helpful if you need to move data from MDT to Inventor.  Autodesk Inventor 10 software included some significant enhancements that simplify the migration of Autodesk Mechanical Desktop data sets. Mechanical Desktop models and drawings can be used as parts, assemblies, and drawings in Autodesk Inventor while maintaining their original design, constraints, and drawing relationships.

This white paper focuses on the best practices for reusing and maintaining original associative design relationships as Autodesk Mechanical Desktop data sets are migrated to Autodesk Inventor software. Download the PDF file here:  Migrating_Autodesk_Mechanical_Desktop.pdf

  • Inventor in India
    August 4, 2005 10:33 AMby

AutorickshawWell I made it back from India safely. What a fun trip - I visited 9 customers in 3 days and managed to go to Bangalore, Puna, Delhi and Mumbai. Met with lots of really smart people doing cool things in Inventor and ate some fantastic Indian food. Unfortunately, I didn't have much time to do any sight seeing or to take many pictures.  Here's one of an auto rickshaw - basically a cross between a taxi and a rickshaw - they are everywhere. I couldn't imagine driving in these cities since there are cars, three wheelers, two wheelers, bicycles and cows all sharing the same road.
