  • New eLearning Section on Manufacturing Community
    October 29, 2008 01:42 AMby Garin Gardiner

Recently there was a new section added to the Manufacturing Community Portal called eLearning. So far there are about 14 lessons from Design Accelerators, Drawing Templates and the ViewCube. Not only are they great lessons, It will also keep track of your progress if you start a lesson and want to finish it later.

So far my favorite is the one on Design Accelerators - head on over and check it out when you have a minute.

This is another great location for great Inventor content.

    Enjoy!

  • Calculating Bend Deductions using Test Bend Pieces
    October 13, 2008 05:01 PMby Garin Gardiner

Calculating Bend Deductions using Test Bend Pieces

I know this isn't for everybody but those of you that have wondered how to create a bend table, this document will help you out.

A few weeks ago I was talking to one of our guys that work on the help system inside of Inventor and he had a great document laying around that I thought was interesting. For those of you that make sheet metal parts and need to really dial in the accuracy of the flat pattern, this document can help you determine the procedures and settings you will need to adjust for a more accurate design that is specific to your shop floor equipment.

This document will help you create a set of bend test where you will actually bend material on your shop equipment and measure the final results to determine the setting you will need in Inventor.

  • Shaft Generator
    October 9, 2008 11:43 AMby Garin Gardiner

Digital Prototypes in Inventor: Shaft Generator

If you ever need to create shafts and haven't taken a look at the Shaft Generator, you shouldn't miss this great write-up on the Shaft Generator.

It starts out explaining how to create a simple shaft then covers adding things like Chamfers, Retaining-Ring Grooves, Keyways and more. This is a very powerful tool and should help you get started if you ever need to create shafts. Once you understand how to do a few things like these, you will be able to add holes in the side, run calculation to check strength and many other things with the Shaft Generator.

    Enjoy!
