Take a note!
August 22, 2008 10:34 AMby Garin Gardiner
How many of you use the Note command inside of Inventor? Back in the early days I used this functionality all the time and really liked it although over the years with all the new stuff in Inventor I have forgotten about the note functionality. The other day I ran across it again and thought it might be a great tip for new users and a reminder for those of you that have used Inventor for a while.
To create a note you can right click on almost anything in the browser or select something from the model window and select Create Note. From here you will see a preview of you model that you can rotate, pan and zoom to get a view you want. This view will update as the model changes unless you Freeze it to take a snapshot in time.

For those of you that use this, how do you use it? What do you use it for?

Inventor on How It's Made
August 12, 2008 02:58 PMby Garin Gardiner
I would bet there are more than a few of you like me and have your DVR set to record "How It's Made". I love to see what people are making and the creative ways they are doing it. A tipster saw an episode last night about a robotic arm that was designed in Inventor and passed up a clip from YouTube. There are a few screenshots of the robot being manipulated in Inventor so go get a drink and some popcorn and watch this five minute clip from the episode.

Two new skill builders available on iParts
August 4, 2008 11:40 AMby Garin Gardiner
Recently our Technical Publications team released two new skill builders around creating and editing iParts. The first one - iParts - The Basics - leads you through the creation process and some of the basics about iParts.
The second skill builder - iParts - Beyond the Basics - is a little more advanced with the use of iMates as well as suppressing and unsuppressing various features. Both skill builders include down loadable files from the site to help you get started.

If you haven't built iparts before or need a refresher course, this is a great place to start.
