Two Minute Tip - Direct Parameter Naming
June 23, 2009, 12:25 PM Rob CoheeSo I found it. My new favorite feature of Autodesk Inventor 2010. Direct Parameter Naming. Beautiful in its simplicity, it will drastically improve your productivity when dealing with parameters in Inventor. Believe it or not I was actually able to get a Two Minute Tip completed in under two minutes!
Cheers,Rob

Thanks for the reminder of this great feature! Works in Inventor 2009 too, if the Subscription Bonus Pack is installed. Juergen http://blog.inventor-faq.de

You know what would be nice?... Having the ability to define a "User" parameter that the "Model" parameter would link to, all in one step. I personally try not to name model parameters and keep everything that's named under the "User" section. It doesn't always work out that way, but it makes changing things easier and more robust downstream. The workflow could be ... [ = *User* ParameterName = 32 in ] or even [ = ParameterName = 32 in ] with the first equals sign signifying that it's going to be linked to a user parameter named "X" that equals 32 in.
