Everyone, As I was navigating through Shaan's history of posts, I stumbled on our MechSoft announcement and wanted to post it in this new section, under Inventor. http://autodesk.blogs.com/between_the_lines/2004/02/autodesk_to_acq.html I've been working with MechSoft since long before joining Autodesk. I've worked with a lot of companies where MechSoft simply made sense and was something they just couldn't pass up because of the productivity gains. Last October, I was part of the due-diligence team who spent time in Decin, Czech Republic to get to know the vision, energy and know-how of the team (Michal, Mila and Vaclav at the development helm) behind the product. The technology is smart and powerful, but best of all, the team in Decin has joined our ranks and we are working together to realize the vision (Functional Design) within one package, our core Inventor Series. Even though winter was beginning, the scenery around Decin and especially Prague was wonderful. Unfortunately, I didn't take many pictures. Hopefully Pete will take a few on his trip next month that we can share. I am a Design Engineer at heart and I want to work from the functional side of my design first and foremost emphasizing on the problem my design is meant to solve. The use of lines, arcs, circles, constraints and more are tools of the technology, but my design is more about optimizing functional requirements to get the job done and that is just how MechSoft works. If I seem passionate on this one, it is because I am. I've read your posts on the Discussion Groups and I think you will see lots of benefit from MechSoft as we integrate this functionality in the Inventor Series with future releases. Best Regards, -Andy
