The recently upgraded Manufacturing Community Portal gives members the ability to customize their experience and quickly find popular content. New features include:

    • Content tags
    • Member content gallery
    • Profile customization
    • Monthly email newsletter
    • Integrated discussion groups

Finding the content that you need

Content tags allow you to label and find popular content topics using community-driven keywords. As you browse the site, you can add tags to tips, uploaded content, and blog entries (Figure 1).

You can also leverage the tag cloud to see which popular topics have surfaced based on keywords from other community members. You’ll find the link to the tag cloud in the top navigation bar (Figure 2).

Keywords that are more popular appear in a larger font as shown in Figure 3.

Clicking on a keyword link takes you to a summarized list of related content tagged with the same label.

The upgrade allows members to examine peer-submitted content from the homepage and quickly drill down to components of interest. Additionally, customizable profiles allow relevant content to display based on user preference. For example, local events will display based on the location listed in your profile.

Along with the site upgrade, there is a new monthly email newsletter that delivers the most popular content and commentary directly to your inbox (Figure 4).

    Tighter Integration with Discussion Groups

Based on user requests the site facelift also provides tighter integration with the discussion groups, for easier thread tracking.
