Mockups and models have always been an important tool for communicating design concepts; however, many times there’s not enough time or money to build a physical prototype. In these cases most projects make do with 2D concept layouts that fail to fully communicate the designer’s intent. As a result, clients often misunderstand the details of a proposed design, which can lead to costly changes later in the project, or worse, losing the business to a competitor.

    Photo-realistic rendering

Inventor Studio is intriguing to 2D users who don’t normally have access to powerful 3D tools. Included with every seat of Inventor, Studio is a tool that helps users create persuasive digital presentations that include renderings with realistic textures and sophisticated ambient lighting without the complication of third-party tools. It delivers numerous improvements that increase realism, simplify the setup process and reduce the time required to generate the final image. Studio now supports decals and cosmetic threads and provides better control over scene brightness and shadows. The improved lighting styles, as well as the ability to copy and paste lights and cameras, reduces the time required to setup and adjust the scene for rendering. Finally, when everything’s ready to go, improved performance and memory utilization allows users to render complex images in less time.

    Animation

Animated renderings give customers a test drive before the product is built by demonstrating how the design works, how all the pieces move, and what they look like as they move. There is no better way to communicate design intent than to let customers view on screen what the product will resemble and how it will move.

Based on customer feedback, Autodesk Inventor Studio 11 enhancements significantly simplify the animation process. Smart defaults, combined with new productivity tools such as turntable animation and mirror tools, allow users to set up and generate animated sequences with less preparation. Users can even create animated sequences based on positional representations in the assembly model.

With the new render preview, users can save time by viewing and modifying a test animation before starting the final rendering process. Additionally, the capacity of the rendering engine has increased to enable users to render more complex scenes.
