Even though data management is an important part of 3D design, some AutoCAD users can be intimidated and confused by complicated data management solutions. Inventor helps with that transition by giving AutoCAD users an entry path to 3D by incorporating Autodesk Vault — an easy-to-implement solution for work-in-progress data management.

When coupled with Productstream for release management, change control, BOM management and more complex workgroup tasks, Vault gives Inventor users a serious Product Lifecycle Management (PLM) solution.

New with Inventor 11, Vault 5 provides support for Assembly Configurations as well as many other productivity enhancements such as Global File Replace and File Property Editing that makes it easier for users to manage their Inventor files. A new Autoloader dramatically reduces the time and effort it takes to get large amounts of existing non-vaulted data into the Vault.
