Setting up Autodesk Productstream in a multiple site environment may sound like a daunting task; however, the recommendations provided in a recently published document will ensure that you make the right choices when setting up and running a Productstream environment.

    Multiple Site Benefits

The benefits of using Productstream in a multiple site environment boil down to this: faster access. Files are stored at or near their location, which means they can be copied to the local workspace a lot faster than if they were copied from a remote location.

    Recommendations

The following are just a few of the recommendations included in the published document that will ensure your Productstream environment is running at optimal productivity levels:

    • Run a ping test to determine latency between one or more sites
    • Place your SQL database on a dedicated computer to allow the SQL server to run without sharing resources
    • Set up your test environment so that it matches the live environment as closely as possible

Also included in the document are helpful flowcharts and diagrams to help you set up your multiple site environments. You can even view examples of multiple site configurations currently in production.
