What if you could get more out of Inventor by building your own productivity and convenience tools? What if your Inventor prowess could make Inventor users who borrow your tools more productive as well?
Consider that if you learn how to build such tools using the API, you could become more productive as well as more popular among your peers. In addition, your time spent learning how to program Inventor will be well worth it, as it may pay for itself many times over.
With this series of four articles, the Autodesk Inventor API team invites you to explore the hidden powers of Autodesk Inventor with its API. This article series is based on an exciting class taught at Autodesk University by Brian Ekins, who is the original designer of Inventor's API.
These articles start at an introductory level to make the common facets of the API more approachable. Each part in this four-part series can be read on its own - so feel free to start with the part that matches best to your needs and interests. The topics include:
Part 1: Getting started with Inventor VBA; “Hello, Inventor
The first article provides an introduction to Inventor's VBA programming environment and some of the basic concepts you need to understand when programming Inventor.Part 2: Using iProperties with Inventor VBA
The second article provides an introduction to the basic concepts you need to understand when programming Inventor. These concepts are put into practice as we use API to query and modify iProperties using VBA.Part 3: Uncovering the Hidden Documents with Inventor API
The third article introduces the basic concepts you need to understand to access Inventor documents.Part 4: Working with iProperties using the API
This last article in the series looks in detail at the iProperties portion of the programming interface and develops some practical examples.
