I am trying to drill a hole in a cilinder not in the face but in the curved area, but is imposible. some one can help? Thank you.

Hi, I have seen this on a tutorial, but not know where. Do a google search. Other than that try to create a new work plane then sketch on that and either project the hole on to surface or extrude the sketch into it. HTHs I am a learn still.

To drill a hole into a curved surface you need to first determine what type of hole be it counter bored or thru. To form a thru hole turn on your plane in the origin folder and offset a work plane to the circumference and place the desired circle for a thru hole constrained to projected geometry. Place a point on projected geometry to place a counter bored hole. Locate geometry or a point with construction lines from projected geometry.

Dear Angel, Did you try creating a work plane on the curved surface? You can reference new work planes off of the primary X,Y,Z axes. You can then drag them where you want, and/or specify an offset distance and angle.

The best way is to select the curved face and then select a origin plane parallel to the plane you want created. This will automatically create a workplane on the circumference for you to create a sketch on.

add a user work plane paralell to the curved surface on the xy, axis or zx etc. then make a sketch on that workplane, add the geometry for the cylender, add a circle the size and position of the hole and extrude it thru the shape, using the extract feature.
