  It's a good method with Wblock though, but before you do that, ensure the following is done:

  1. Try use Polylines instead of lines
  2. Use blocks instead of groups
  3. Purge all that's not useful
  4. Perform the Audit command
  5. Instead of Save, execute the Wblock command, select only the related entities
  6. Try insert it into a new empty drawing.and compare the file size

  Using XREFs helps a lot as well. Reduce the number of different Text and Dimension styles as well.
